RAF Emergency Flying Ration MRE - Mark 9

This British Royal Air Force Emergency Flying Ration MK 9 is the pinnacle in survival ration quality and design. The Emergency Flying Ration has been in service for over 75 years - making it one of the longest running rations still produced. It has gone through extensive changes over the decades, and the MK 9 has been in service since the early 1980's.
 
This is an original RAF issue emergency flying ration.Part of the RAF ejection seat survival pack for downed aircrew.It comes in a two part tin which serves as a mess tin, it can be suspended over a fire with the hooks provided.There are two flavoured food bar packs, a beverage pack, sugar and beef stock cubes, drinks stirrers, water purification tablets and mess tin handles. Wth instruction sheet.The tin has the original seal tape and has never been opened. Packed in July 1999. Also carried by UKSF Paras SBS etc.

The black plastic strap is there to aid pulling apart the two halves, the tins can be a very tight fit.
